Music Marketing Blog Post #1

Our groups marketing project has been split pretty evenly so far, although there have been a few mistakes between communications, luckily they resolved themselves. So far we have done the music research chart. Before taking the time to split the chart evenly we decided to look at what genre we had and what studios had artists who produced those kinds of songs. We decided to go with Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group. After deciding to use these two companies we then moved on to how we were going to split the chart.

Since the chart had eight parts to it and we had four group member we decided to split it so everybody does two parts. One of those parts would be the Artist/Group section or History section. The person would also have to do a case study. This worked well for everyone, unfortunately somebody heard wrong and did one of my parts and I ended up doing two case studies, but the issue wasn't a huge deal and it was turned in completed and on time. It had honestly helped because I wasn't sure at the time whether the people I was researching were the right ones but since one of my groupmates accidently did both parts I became much more sure that what I was researching was the correct information. We then moved on to planning the storyboard and video.

We decided to create a promotional video and maybe put in a story. The promotional part is confirmed at this point because we have a few instruments and some of the group doesn't have a lot of time. We tried out a few different storylines but none seemed to hit the mark. This means we are going to try to converse more over the weekend. In terms of splitting the storyboard there won't be as much splitting as before, one of our group members offered to do it and I also said that I would try to get some parts of it done as well when I have time. Unfortunately, storyboarding a band for multiple pictures is much harder than creating a story, which is why we want to converse again soon.
